The application of pvd coating machine coating technology in optical lenses, the earliest lenses did not have optical coating, some even did not have the treatment of internal extinction and lens edge blackening, and then there was a single-layer coating, but this is mainly used in military telescopes to achieve lens extinction and reduce the possibility of being found by the enemy (for example, the T * coating of ZEISS Dingding was originally developed for military), while in the field of civil cameras, In 1941, Kodak Company produced the first Ektra camera to use coated lenses, but the great development of coating technology should have started from the early 1970s when Pentax introduced SMC coated Taikuma lenses.

The coating on modern lenses can be divided into two types: one is called antireflective coating, which increases the transmittance of light, and the other is coating that changes the color spectrum transmission characteristics of the lens. For example, if the optical material used for a lens has good refractive index and other indicators, but there is a yellowing phenomenon, then it should be coated with a layer of spectral blocking film, Correct the color deviation (the three princesses of Pentax all use high refraction glass, so some of them are slightly yellow). Now the development of coating technology can compensate for the shortcomings of some cheaper optical materials. Lens design does not need to use expensive special formula optical glass as in the past, so new lenses generally have multi-layer coating on the air contact surface of each lens, This also highlights the important role of coating for lenses from another perspective.
Many people require film to be added to the lenses when wearing glasses. There are two main types of lens coating: one is an anti reflective film, which involves coating multiple layers of transparent materials with different refractive indices and thicknesses on the front surface of the lens, using the principle of light interference to reduce excess reflected light on the surface of the lens. After adding an anti reflective film to the lens, the transparency of the light will increase, and the wearer will feel less glare, resulting in a more realistic and bright view. Another method is to add a hard film, mainly used for resin lenses. It is generally added to the front surface of the lens to enhance the wear resistance of the resin lens, and at the same time, the transparency of light is also enhanced. When cleaning hard film lenses, users should first wash the front and rear surfaces of the lenses with clean water, and then use a clean soft cloth to dry them. Be careful not to wipe the lenses when they are dry. If ordinary lenses can be seen clearly, there is no need to add a film. If necessary, resin lenses can be added with anti reflective film or hard film, while glass lenses generally only need to add anti reflective film. The antireflection coating and hardening coating are optical coatings deposited by optical pvd coating machine.
